Waterfront
Boston was built on its maritime trade, and the Waterfront, situated at the edge of Boston Harbor, remains one of the city's most vital areas, a place where the old and new come together to create a neighborhood unlike any other in the city. The Waterfront abuts the North End and Downtown, and is home to some of Boston's most interesting cultural attractions, like the New England Aquarium and Christopher Columbus Park. Homes are mostly situated around the various wharves. Warehouses once so central to maritime business have been reborn as magnificent brick-and-beam homes, and new construction like the sparkling Intercontinental Hotel and Residences offer full-service living and expansive views of the harbor with its busy traffic of clippers and trade ships.
